History

Clean quickly, neatly and eco-friendly

Hans Raab felt the urge for independence and autonomy at an early age. With his wife Vera he founded a building cleaning company in Dudweiler in Saarland.
Through devotion and skill, this smallest of beginnings rapidly grew into a highly effective company that provided employment for more than 100 workers.
Soon, Hans Raab noticed adverse health effects in his employees and himself that he attributed to their daily exposure to chemical cleaning agents.
Around this time he remembered a report that he had read about indigenous peoples in Africa and the effective, eco-friendly cleaning methods these people used. But one thing was clear to Hans Raab: You just can not clean with sand, clay and water in so-called civilisation today.  Something else was needed.
After years or experiments, Hans Raab developed a manufacturing process for cleaning textiles that clean using nothing but water. Millions of special fibres loosen even the most stubborn dirt and grease particles in this cleaning process and hold them.
This trailblazing discovery was the beginning of an amazing success.
At the International Inventors Fair in Basel in 1982, where Hans Raab presented a window cleaning device that was equipped with these fibres, he won the gold medal for his invention.
In 1984 Hans Raab set a world record: At the Hilton-Hotel in Basel he cleaned 638 m2 of window surfaces in 2 hours and 54 minutes.

Raab travelled a hard, challenging road with his family. Thanks to the performance and quality of the physical-mechanical cleaning system he developed, an unimagined series of triumphs began at the end of the 1980s.
Today Ha-Ra® is present in more than fifty countries world-wide and  Hans Raab continues to do research...
